HISTORY OF NEW MEDIA IN TURKEY
NAZLI ÖZKAN
I am an Assistant Professor and a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow in the Department of Media and Visual Arts at Koç University, İstanbul. After completing a BA degree at Boğaziçi University and an MA degree at Koç University, I received my PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Northwestern University. My research was funded by several institutions such as the Wenner-Gren Foundation, Fulbright Foreign Student Program, and Henry R. Luce Initiative of Religious and International Affairs. As a media anthropologist, I have been exploring the relationship between media and politics through my work on journalism, religious difference, and the state; journalism and digital media; and history of new media technologies in Turkey. My work has appeared in journals such as PoLAR: Political and Legal Anthropology Review, Visual Anthropology Review, and Toplum ve Bilim.
